Recent Results from ATLAS and Run-3 Preparation Activities

Song-Ming Wang

The ATLAS experiment has had a successful Run-2 data taking program, collected a total 139 fb-1 of good proton-proton collision data at sqrt(s)=13 TeV. It is currently under going a long shutdown to carry out maintenance and upgrades, in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, to prepare for the Run-3 phase of data taking, which will start in 2022. This presentation will highlight some new results from ATLAS that are based on the full Run-2 data sample, by focusing on searches for di-Higgs boson production and new physics. The presentation will also briefly describe the activities involved in preparing ATLAS for the next round of data taking.
